OPAL Local Workforce Development and Human Resources Development training scheme gives priority to employers needs and focuses on targeted training, which aims to enhance competence and work ethics. Employment is being the objective and training is the enabler. OPAL has several training types in developing workforce like Training for Development and Training for Employment.
Training for Employment (TFE) programs are dedicated scheme that contributes to promote and support Omanisation through addressing the need of basic skills for school leavers and graduates to secure suitable employment opportunities with good prospects in the private sector. OPAL has attained success and earned credibility with the Government of Oman and the Oil and Gas sector and has secured employment for over 10,000 Omanis since its inception, with the goal of continuing to support Omanisation through apprenticeship programs, on the Job training and customised programs.
Training for Development (TFD) programmes dedicated towards improvement of Human Resources Professional. However, the OPAL TFD Programme contribute towards to raising the bar of the professional of all functions and skills across the oil & gas industry. TFD includes specialized programs, Workshops and Seminars on diverse relevant topics and aims at enriching human capabilities for both employees and Job Seekers.

Apprenticeships enable employers to develop skilled employees where they need them most in their workforce. We work with employers and training providers to help them develop apprenticeships that improve corporate performance.
On-the-job training, (OJT), is a hands-on method of learning skills, knowledge, and competencies needed for job seekers to perform a specific job within specific workplace. Job seekers learn in an environment where they will need to practice the knowledge and skills obtained during their training.
Customized courses have an open-content programme. the courses are fully attuned to specific organization needs, to cover the gaps needed in specific jobs with high quality designed programs.
OPAL is responsible for helping to develop and maintain standards and qualifications in the Oman Oil and Gas industry. There are many providers of training in Oil and Gas related topic, how do you know that your training course is good enough? OPAL wants to help ensure that the training you or your employees receive is delivered and assessed to a recognised standard.
This is part of a wider reform the Ministry of Oil and Gas is undertaking to increase the standardisation and transferability of training in the Oman Oil and Gas Industry, which will improve the benefit of funded training to employers and individuals. This will enable OPAL to directt funding on the training areas of most impact and importance to the Oil and Gas industry and reduce wasted effort and spend on duplicated training of the employee.
We are consulting with industry stakeholders to provide Training Standards, for many categories of training carried out in the Oil and Gas industry. When these are confirmed, training providers can then match their courses to the Standard and can register on the OPAL USP, employers can be certain that their employees have received comprehensive training, and workers can transfer their course training between employers.

An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills which should be linked to his/her field of study.

A Skill Certification is the basis for approving and authorising an Employee in a particular trade or profession. An Industry or a Government agency establishes the qualifications, requirements and standards to be met for granting certification to practitioners of particular occupations.
This Skill Certification program is for Omani Citizens who are interested in obtain skill based courses provided by the Training Provider on the Training Evaluation platform.
How to acquire a Skill Certificate from Training Evaluation Centre:
On successful evaluation, obtain the OPAL Course Completion Card.
